Volunteer

Reviewer time is the scarcest thing we have.

Money pays for servers. Only people with real expertise can tell a student whether their method holds up. If that is you, we would like a few hours of your year.

Who we are looking for
  • Graduate students and postdocs in any of our twelve subject areas
  • Faculty and professional researchers
  • Secondary school science and maths teachers with research experience
  • Industry researchers who publish or have published

Undergraduates with strong subject knowledge can join as junior reviewers, paired with a senior reviewer on each paper.

What it involves

Three to four hours per paper

Most papers are 8 to 16 pages. You get three weeks, and you can decline any invitation without explanation.

A structured rubric

Methodology, clarity, novelty relative to the author's stage, and integrity. Plus free-text comments the author will read.

AI reports as a starting point

You see five advisory AI reports in a sidebar. Use them, ignore them, or say they are wrong. You are the reviewer; they are not.

Anonymous by default

Authors do not see your name unless you choose to sign your report. Conflicts of interest must be declared.

Verifiable credit

We plan to add your review activity to your ORCID record, with no paper details revealed.

Shape a young researcher

For many authors this is the first serious feedback they have ever received on research. It lands.

Apply to review

Takes two minutes. An editor will confirm your expertise before your first invitation.

Optional

Speeds up verification a lot.

Methods and topics you can judge confidently.
